Regulation Rules 2017

Event name: 19º CICLORUTA INTERNACIONAL GRAN FONDO SERRANIA DE RONDA. “LA SUFRIDA”.

Organizer: CLUB DEPORTIVO LA SUFRIDA.

Date: On 27 th MAY, 2017

Start and finish location: MONTEJAQUE ( MALAGA- ANDALUCIA) SPAIN.

Start grid opens: 07:00 a.m. in CONSTITUTION SQUARE in Montejaque.

Start time: 8:00 a.m.( Gran Fondo and Medio). 1:15 p.m. ( Short)

Routes: 3 :Gran Fondo: 221 km with 5000 m total elevation gain; Medio: 140 km with 3,020 m elevation gain and Short: 81km.

Gran Fondo route: 221 km: Montejaque, Montecorto, Los Villalones, El Gastor, Zahara de la Sierra, Puerto de Las Palomas, Benamahoma, El Bosque, Ubrique,  Benaocaz, Villaluenga del Rosario, Puerto de Los Alamillos,  Montejaque,  Benaoján, La Legión´s Barracks, Puerto del Sauco, Los Villalones, Montecorto , Puerto de Los Alamillos and Montejaque.

Medio route: 140 km: Montejaque, Montecorto, Los Villalones, El Gastor, Zahara de la Sierra, Puerto de Las Palomas, Benamahoma, El Bosque, Ubrique,  Benaocaz, Villaluenga del Rosario, Puerto de Los Alamillos and  Montejaque.

Short route: 81 km: Montejaque,  Benaoján, La Legión´s Barracks, Puerto del Sauco, Los Villalones, Montecorto , Puerto de Los Alamillos and Montejaque.

Participation:
Open to anyone with a license issued by the FCI or a recognized sports promotion association or in possession of a medical certificate of fitness for participation in competitive cycling events and to amateur foreign cyclists who are members in good standing of their respective federations for the 2017 season.
The event is also open to touring cyclists over 17 years old ( 15 years old for Short route). For those without a license, a one-day FCI license will be issued for a fee of €10, which provides liability insurance during the event. This license will only be issued upon presentation of a valid medical certificate of fitness for competitive sports for the Granfondo route or a medical certificate of good health for those who choose the Medio route.
The organizing committee may at any time and at its sole discretion decide whether to accept or reject a rider’s participation or to exclude a rider if the committee believes that the rider’s presence would damage the image of the event. Riders who have received sanctions and/or disqualifications of more than 6 months for doping-related offenses may not register.

Registration fee:
€36.00 through the end 8th October 2016; €41.00 from 9th October  to 18th December, 2016; €49.00 from 19th  December  2016 to 15 March 2017; €54.00 from 16th  March  2017  to 15th  May 2017 and 60€ until 26th May 2017.
The registration fee includes a personal race number, mechanical assistance (excluding the cost of parts), medical assistance along the route,, feed zones, Finisher Gift, Trophies, and a paella party after the finish. The classification will be published in printed form and on the event website, www.lasufrida.net.
Registration:
By email , stating clearly and completely the rider’s first and last names, date of birth, address, e-mail address, number and type of license, team or club, Nationality, Gender, and T-shirt size, sent to [email protected], attaching a copy of the proof of payment of the registration fee paid  by bank transfer to BBVA BANK, IBAN: ES40 – 0182-3288-6502-0159-9153, SWIFT BIC CODE: BBVAESMMXXX -  0182-3288-6502-0159-9153 payable to CD LA SUFRIDA.
For team or club registration, a list of the participating riders, with all the requested data for each individual, should be sent on club letterhead and signed by the president of the club, along with a copy of proof of payment of the registration fee, paid as a single deposit of the total amount due to  bank account indicated above.
Registration closes: 27th  May,  2017, and open on 26th and  27th May in Montejaque ( Community Sport Center) €60.00
Race number  pickup and license check: Montejaque Community Sport Center , from 17:00 to 21:00 on May 26th , 2017, and from 06:30 to 07:30 on May 27th, 2017. Race packets that are not picked up will not be sent to the riders.
Reimbursement of the registration fee: In the event that a rider does not participate in the event, the registration fee  may be refunded . If a rider is unable to participate, he or she must communicate this by email before midnight on 1st of April ,2017 (100% fee) or before midnight on May 1, 2017 (50% fee).
Rider substitutions:
Rider substitutions  must communicate  by email  before midnight on May 1, 2017. An administrative fee  will be charged for each change and has to be paid at “ race number pickup” event in Montejaque.

Numbered grid:
The participants will be divided into numerical groups based on their routes: GRAN FONDO from 400 to 999 ; MEDIO from 1 to 399 ; SHORT from 1000 to ….

Rights and responsibilities:
During the course of the event, the GRAN FONDO  riders may freely choose the MEDIO route .. The “ LA SUFRIDA” Race isn´t  a competitive ciclosportive event, and therefore it is absolutely obligatory that riders respect the rules of the road.  Riders will NEVER  overtake the “ Head of bike race” vehicle , who will run at 29km/h maximum and the rear vehicle at 20km/h minimun . The race number must be visible on the handlebars and not rolled around the frame; the other number provided by the race organizers is to be pinned to the back of the jersey. These numbers may not be modified in any way (e.g., folded or trimmed). A standards-compliant hard-shell helmet must be worn for the duration of the event, the rider electronic timing device will be attached to handlebar race number. To protect the environment, it is absolutely forbidden to throw trash of any kind along the road; all waste must be placed only in the containers located near the feed zones and at the finish, as designated by the “Ecozone” signs. If race organization personnel or officials see a rider disregarding this rule, he or she will be disqualified.

Checkpoints:
Start and Finish line.
Along the GRAN FONDO route by rider electronic device : Montecorto, Los Villalones, Ubrique , Puerto de Los Alamillos and Montejaque. Manually by Staff  personnel: Montejaque and La Legión´s Barracks.
Along the MEDIO route by rider electronic device : Montecorto, Los Villalones, Ubrique, Puerto de Los Alamillos and Montejaque. Manually by Staff  personnel: Montejaque.
Along the SHORT route by rider electronic device : Villalones, Montecorto and Montejaque.
Manually by Staff  personnel: Montejaque and La Legión´s Barracks.

Maximum time:
11 and ¼  hours (i.e., Start time 08:00 hours and finish by 19:15 hours).

Prizes and Finisher´s Gifts:
Prizes will be awarded to GRAN FONDO route Finishers.
Also prizes will be awarded to: Youngest and Oldest riders, male and female . 1st, 2nd and 3th most numerous members club.
Any other prizes will be communicated at the start. Prizes that are not collected will not be sent to the riders.

GIFTS to reach THE FINISHING LINE (there will not be gifts just to participate),there will be available :  a T-shirt, a Mug, La Sufrida´s Flag and a back bag if you , 221km , 140km or 81km riders, arrived to the finishing line. Plus, only 221km Finisher, a single and individual Stone award.

Team classification:
The team classification , 3 Prizes, will be based on the number of registered members who start.

Hard-shell helmet: Obligatory

Medical assistance: 2 ambulances, 20 cars and 18 motorcycles following the race; 2 doctors and paramedics.

Mechanical assistance: Cars and motorcycles following the race, and various assistance points along the two routes.

Private assistance: Private support vehicles are forbidden, at risk of disqualification. However, food and drink can be handed off in the areas provided by the organization (feed zones).

Radio assistance: Along the two routes and at the finish.

Gran Fondo feed zones:
Montecorto km 16,5  (only drinks) , Los Villalones  km 24,5 , Zahara de la Sierra km  56,5 (only drinks), Puerto Las Palomas km 66,5 ; El Bosque km  87,9 (only drinks); Ubrique km 99,5;  Puerto de Los Alamillos km 120( only drinks); Montejaque km 140,  La Legión´s Barracks  km 152 (only drinks) ; Los Villalones km 175, Montecorto km 183 (only drinks) , Puerto de Los Alamillos km 201(only drinks) and  Montejaque km 221,     – water, soft drinks and sports drinks at the finish and then the paella party at Community Sport Center.

Medio feed zones:
Montecorto km 16,5  (only drinks) , Los Villalones  km 24,5 , Zahara de la Sierra km  56,5 (only drinks), Puerto Las Palomas km 66,5 ; El Bosque km  87,9 (only drinks); Ubrique km 99,5;  Puerto de Los Alamillos km 120 (only drinks); Montejaque km 140   – water, soft drinks and sports drinks at the finish and then the paella party at Community Sport Center.

Short Fondo feed zones:
La Legión´s Barracks  (only drinks) ; Los Villalones, Montecorto (only drinks) , Puerto de Los Alamillos and  Montejaque , – water, soft drinks and sports drinks at the finish and then the paella party at Community Sport Center.

Event cancellation
If the event does not take place due to any cause beyond the control of the organizers, the registration fee will be refunded.

Required equipment:
Riders participating in the event must have with them at the start at least the following equipment: – tools for changing a tire or tubular – a spare inner tube (or tubular) – a pump (or CO2 cartridge) for inflating tires – a water bottle.
In addition, all riders must wear a standards-compliant helmet and keep their race numbers attached and visible, both on the bike frame and the jersey.

Additional services:
Sports massage. Showers at the Sport Center in Montejaque (Start and Finish line). Broom wagon for riders who drop out. Secure bike parking at the finish. Storage service for personal items. Lost and found service. Free overnight stay at the Sport Center the night before the race ( you will need sleeping bag). Parking assistance. Free mobile app for tracking rider´s position (Now Run app)

Claims:
Any claims must be presented to the jury within the required time limit and accompanied by the fee specified by the RFEC ( Royal Spanish  Cycling Federation).

Rules:
The organization accepts no responsibility for any accidents or damage to persons, animals or things taking place before, during or after the event. All event participants must respect the rules of the road. For any issue not addressed by these rules, the rules of the RFEC’s  amateur organization apply.
